Full Day Excursion

Discover how to make teas, rum, vanilla, and essential oils with your five senses. It is a trip that will transport you back to the early days of Mauritius, with its rich colonial past, and will provide you with an opportunity to learn about the importance of tea manufacturing in Mauritius.

Domaine Des Aubineaux

The Aubineaux residence was built in 1872 in Forest Side, next to Curepipe. The house, which is made of period wood, has lovely turrets that give it an imposing aspect, as well as a big central corridor, which was rare at the time. The owners did not wish to change anything throughout the refurbishment, thus the house has all of its original period furnishings and paintings.

Bois Cheri

The Mauritian Tea Route continues with a visit to the Bois Chéri (the first stop is the Domaine des Aubineaux). A guide will take you on a tour of the factory and the tea plantation, explaining the history, myths, and legends of the Bois Chéri as well as the significance of tea manufacturing in Mauritius. Following the tea factory tour, you will visit the tea production museum to learn more about Mauritius' tea history.  Bois Chéri now offers a variety of flavored teas, green teas, and herbal teas. You will be able to sample them during your visit.

Domaine Saint Aubin

The sugar estate Domaine de Saint Aubin was founded in 1819. The farm, which is located in the south of Mauritius, a few kilometers from Souillac, provides tourists with a complete experience in the production of traditional agricultural rum, specific sugars, and vanilla bean. This sugar farm comes from the early nineteenth century, when roads were unfeasible and sugar had to be brought to the island's capital via the Souillac batelage's ships.
